Gautam  Adani  belongs to a Gujrati Bania family, his father was in textiles business.

From his childhood he was not very good in schooling and is he is a college dropout.

At his 18, he moved to Mumbai and started working under Mahandra Brothers, who was in Diamond Trader.

Later after 2 years Gautam Adani started his own diamond business in Zaweri bazaar Mumbai.

After some time his elder brother Mansukh Adani called him to help him in their plastic business.

Soon Gautam Adani started importing PVC, the primary  material used in the manufacturing of plastics, and with his skills, he visited South Korea to make a deal of importing PVC.

In 1988, he started Adani Export Ltd, later changed the name to Adani Enterprises Limited, which was initially doing the business related with agricultural and power.

In 1991 after liberalization, there was  sudden rise in the company’s revenue and business which in turn helped Adani to expand his company.

Year 1993 was a big turnover for Gautam Adani, when at a Government of Gujarat aproched to private companies to operate Mundra port.

In 1995, Adani won the contract of Mundra Port, and by his effort and strategy made it the largest commeral port in India.

After the success of Mundra project, in 1996 founded the Adani Power Ltd(APL) and  established thermal power plant with a power generation capacity of 12,450 MW, which is the largest private thermal power producer in the country.

Later in 1999 Adani enters into coal business.

After the success of these business, next Adani comes in Edible Oil sector, like Fortunes oil, soyabean oil, Palm oil, sunflower oil, mustard oil etc.

In their Megabusiness he have 7 Airports, among them Mumbai Airport is also made by Adani Group.

Philantrophy

For Charity related work in 1996 Gautam Adani established  Adani Foundation,  including Gujraj, this foundation also works in other states of India like Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh etc.

This foundation focuses on education, expanding rural infrastructure, providing different livelihood opportunities, etc.

During Corana Panedemic Adani Foundation donated 100 Crore rupess in PM Care Fund.

During Corana peak time their group also donated 1500 Oxygen Cylender daily wise.

This Foundation helped 500 fishermen for purchasing fishing equipment and not only this but also education is provided to the fishermen’s children.

His wife runs the Adani Vidya Mandir, a school located in Ahmedabad, which admits only those children whose parents have an annual income less than ₹1 lakh.

In 2014, his established foundation was awarded the 3rd Annual Greentech CSR Award.

In his interview he believes Lord Krishna thought “karma karo fal ki chinta mat karo”, similarly  he stated that throughout his entire life, he has focused on trying rather than focusing on the results.
